Jim Rhodes
 
 
 
Jim Rhodes was born on the 29th January 1946 in Cannock
 
He loves his golf and at 6’ 1” (1.85m) tall he is a natural, first learning to play on the Beaudesert Golf Course on the estate of Beaudesert Hall, Hazel Slade
 
He turned professional in 1963 and worked as a club professional, making only occasional appearances on the European Tour
 
In 1971 he married Pauline
 
And in in 1975 their daughter Jenny was born
 
In 1980 he started teaching at the Beaudesert Golf Club
 
He has several times participated in the International Championships for Teaching Professionals, as the tournament in his time was called. He lives the winter months in the Algarve where he teaches at the Penina Golf Club
 
In 1987 he won the European Club Professionals Championship in The Netherlands and the International Broekpolder Golf Tournament at Golf Club Broekpolder
 
In 1996 he joined the European Seniors Tour when he turned fifty and has been one of its most consistent players, winning three tournaments and finishing fifth on the Order of Merit in his best season, which was 1987
 
In 2000 he won the PGA Senior Club Professional Championship
 
In 2001 he won the SSL International Sodexho Match Play Championship at Penina
 
In 2004 he won his first stroke play victory in the Irvine Whitlock Jersey Seniors Classic at La Move Golf Club after going back to using the putter that brought him victory in the 2001 SSL International Sodexho Match Play Championship at Penina, presented by the Daily Telegraph
 
Also this year he finished 10th in the European Tour
 
In 2005 hecruised to a three stroke success at the Nigel Mansell Sunseeker International Classic at Woodbury Park Hotel Golf & Country Club
 
In 2006 he became the fifth player to reach 200 events on the European Senior Tour when he finished tied 13th at the Estoril Senior Open of Portugal
 
In 2007 he was the PGA Senior Club Pro Championship with 70-70-73 after play-off against Iain Clark
 
In 2009 he finished 54th in the Senior Tour Order of Merit
 
Since 2010 there is a special record in the name of Jim Rhodes, he is after Maurice Bembridge the first player, to play more than 250 tournaments on the Senior Tour. Bembridge, chairman of the Senior Tour Committee, reached on the Jersey Senior Classics, Rhodes, a member of that committee, one week later at the Irish Senior Open
 
A putter that he bought in 1966 he still has in his possession and it is one of a collection of about 70 he keeps at home
 
His wife Pauline often caddies for him
 
In the past he has been Captain and Chairman of the Midlands PGA
 
Currently (2010) he serves on the European Senior Tour Committee and was ninth on the tour's career money list
