Ernest Thomas Cook
 Ernest Thomas COOK and his wife Violet Irene WINTERTON are the grandparents of BFHG member Susan COOK.
Ernest's father, John W COOK and his wife Emma were originally from Chestall but moved to Rugeley.
John found himself a job as the gamekeeper on the Baudesert Estate, Hazel Slade and was there for some time prior to his retirement.

Violet Irene WINTERTON was born in 1891 and was the eldest daughter of William WINTERTON and his wife. The family lived at the Park Gate Inn, Cannock Wood next to Castle Ring for many years.

On the 14th June 1911 Ernest Thomas COOK married and Violet Irene WINTERTON at Christ Church, Gentleshaw.

After the ceremony, a reception was held at the Park Gate Inn and they then left for their honeymoon in the north of England.

The marriage was
registered at Lichfield Record Office in June 1914
Following their marriage, Ernest and Violet moved to the Bell Inn, in the centre of Rugeley
Ernest seemed to be quite a character in the pub looking after numerous
wild animals including foxes and a badger.

An article appeared in the Birmingham Gazette on Tuesday 10 th September 1935 about Ernest and his fox Freddie
Ernest and Violet were at The Bell Inn for 37 years until Ernest died in 1948.
Like Ernest’s parents John and Emma COOK, Ernest was buried in Rugeley Cemetery and following the death of Violet, she was buried there too.
