Lichfield, or Litchfield, Staffordshire. A city situated on a small river, which runs into the Trent, about three miles from the town, 18 miles N. W. of Coventry, and 119 miles N. W. from London. It is governed by two bailiffs, a recorder, burgesses, Ec, and sends two members to parliament, Markets on Tuesdays and Fridays., Fairs, Shrove-Tuesday and Ash-Wednesday, for cattle, sheep, bacon, cheese and iron; May 12th, for cattle, first Tuesday in November for geese and cheese.
