To the Glory of God Harold Benson Stokes aged 20 years. Corporal in the 13th Batt Royal Fusiliers and only son of James Stokes of Freckenham Cottage, Hednesford. He died of wound received in action at the Battle of Ancre, France Nov 21st 1916 and was interred at the Cemetery of St Servers Rouen. For some time a Chorister at this Church he afterwards became a Solo Chorister at Lichfield Cathedral. “He tried to do his Duty.” Erected by his Father.
