In 1570 Heath Hayes was known as ‘Hethhey’ (heathy enclosure(s) [The Oxford Names Companion]
Heath Hayes, 1m E of Cannock, lies adjacent to the north side of Watling Street (A5). It takes its name from a farm called Heath Hayes, now confusingly called Farm Grange. The settlement is largely modern. The church of St John the Evangelist was built in 1902. Tom LUNN of Stafford Street, Heath Hayes, was Wolverhampton Wanderers’ goalkeeper when they won the FA Cup in 1978.
